The 27 Club is a truly unique golf experience located in the bustling port of Tianjin, China, approximately 75 miles east of Beijing. One of the most ambitious projects undertaken in Asia, The 27 Club consists of 27 extraordinarily dramatic golf holes, each designed in collaboration with a major championship winner. Working with Canadian golf course architect, Tom McBroom, our team was tasked with creating an unforgettable golf course experience for amateurs that would challenge the world’s best players and serve as a venue for international professional tournaments.

In addition to our full golf course design services, BWD also led the landscape design efforts, hired employees in China to help select local vegetation, assisted in negotiating the purchase prices for materials, and laid out all of the vegetation prior to planting.

The result has been the total transformation of an ordinary site into an incredible setting that exudes character and drama. The scope and scale of the earth moving and landscaping at The 27 Club had never been attempted in China. The project continues to set new standards for a parkland golf experience in China.

Beau Welling Design coordinated the involvement of each of the 27 major champions collaborating on design, including Fred Couples, Tom Watson and Greg Norman, to ensure a consistent golf experience. Beau Welling played an integral role in the vision of the project, and undoubtedly helped The 27 Club achieve status as one of China’s premier golf clubs.

The 27 Club will host the Pacific Links China Championship, the first Champions Tour event to be staged in China, during September 2015.
